Chazen assisted the City of Plattsburg to develop a district revitalization plan and feasibility study for the “Durkee Street” property: a 5-acre brownfield site located on the Saranac River in the heart of downtown. The site represents a key redevelopment opportunity to connect the downtown to the waterfront, create a mixed-use development and a public gathering place for visitors and downtown patrons. Early concepts focus on creating a food hub and culinary business incubator as well as downtown mixed use development and urban lifestyle center. Our scope of work included public outreach and engagement, a market analysis, concept development, consensus building to select a preferred development option, an implementation and funding strategies.
Plattsburg was selected as the North Country Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) winner and $10MM to support the implementation of the Durkee Street project. New York State recently (May 25, 2017) announced plans to move forward with funding this project. Congratulations to the City of Plattsburgh!
