Hudson Point Esopus
The Chazen Companies (TCC) is currently providing design and environmental review services for the proposed Hudson Point neo-traditional development project overlooking the Hudson River in the Town of Esopus.
The project consists of 520 units of housing, 40,000 square feet of commercial and office development, an inn, a civic building and a variety of recreational amenities, including a beach and boat launch on Esopus Lake, and a large wetlands conservation area. Chazen’s engineers, landscape architects, planners and environmental scientists have worked closely together to foster a design that meets both town and developer expectations for this unique development project.
The project involves the creation of a neo-traditional style village. The focus of the development is three Great Houses surrounding a central square. The Great Houses are designed in the fashion of the Hudson River estates and provide a focal point for the community. Development radiates from the central square in a variety of housing types and styles, with density being greatest closest to the square. The project also includes the development of a small Town Center on Rt. 9W at the southern entrance to the hamlet of Port Ewen. The Town Center will serve as a gateway to this revitalizing hamlet.
TCC’s scope also includes a variety of studies, including a wetland delineation, habitat assessment for several species, water and sewer engineering, including district extensions and a comprehensive visual assessment. TCC has prepared the site survey and is taking the project through the SEQRA process.
