Joint Utility Infrastructure Relocation - Route 9 & Interstate Route 84 Interchange
TCC Utility design group provided facilities routing expertise to NY Telephone, AT&T, Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp., and Cablevision for the design of a new joint utilities corridor thru the proposed NYSDOT Road Project. Chazen's Utility Design group started with reviewing NYSDOT project plans, profiles, sections, and details to determine a viable utility corridor throughout the entire project area. We coordinated our design with the subject utility companies' specific service requirements in the area as well as positioning them to expand for the future without additional area disturbance. These plans were reviewed by the utility companies before being forwarded to NYSDOT. Numerous proposed large diameter drainage pipes crossed the utility routing. The TCC Utility group proposed the NYSDOT supply the utility companies' contractor with the pipe sections to install below the nearly six foot wide utility corridor. This level of collaboration had never been accomplished before. It was agreed that NYSDOT would support this utility request. TCC provided survey stakeout and joint inspection services to the project that was being completely constructed prior to the NYSDOT project startup. This included M&PT plans for day and night operations, documentation of existing utilities, pay requisition assessment, coordination with NYSDOT personnel, and as-built plan closeout.
