Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County

East Fishkill, NY

Chazen provided land survey, environmental, site engineering, landscape architecture and planning services for a new two-story, 12,000-square foot medical office building for Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County (OADC). The project involved the redevelopment of the former Junction 52 Restaurant property.

OADC and Chazen closely collaborated on program needs including space, employee and patient parking, water and sewer service needs, and the available construction budget. Chazen performed a feasibility study to identify potential constraints to site development, including wetlands, a high groundwater table hindering the septic disposal system function and drainage issues. Chazen assisted OADC in developing a compliant and economical approach to the environmental clean-up, which allowed monies to be reallocated to raising the site, resolving septic disposal and parking lot drainage issues. The revised site layout offers a handicap accessible facility, allowed redevelopment to take advantage of existing infrastructure. and created jobs in the community.

Warrensburg Health Center

Warrensburg, NY

The Warrensburg Health Center is a 17,500-square foot, two-story, state-of-the-art, health center facility, offering pediatric, adult and family medicine practitioners, urgent care, and a wide array of specialty and ancillary services. Located adjacent to the Health Center is the Albert R. Tucker Clinical Services Center, offering pharmacy and dental services. As the project site engineer and landscape architect, Chazen was responsible for design of site layout, site vehicle access and circulation, pedestrian access, pharmacy drive-thru layout, landscaping, signage, utility/stormwater infrastructure improvements as well as NYSDOT coordination and permitting. The design was developed with extensive construction phasing to maintain full access and operation of the existing health center, previously located at the rear of the property, while constructing the new facility directly adjacent to US Route 9. One of the primary goals was to develop natural landscaped, pedestrian space. As such, Chazen developed a healing garden between the Health Center and Clinical Services Center for use by patients, staff, and visitors to promote stress reduction, human health, and well-being. In addition, Chazen designed a park plaza and amphitheater at the lower end of the site near the river, to replace the former Calvin C. Engle Park, previously located adjacent to US Route 9.
