Chazen provided civil engineering and landscape architectural services for a new K‐6 elementary school building located on the former City of Albany School 21 site. The project involved the partial demolition of the former school building and one adjacent residence and the construction of a new three‐story school building.
Chazen provided design services including site grading, ADA compliance and accessibility review, design of a compact outdoor green space and playground and evaluation of bus drop off and city street one‐way traffic circulation options. The utility design involved connection to the existing water and combined sanitary and storm sewer systems. Chazen designed a sub‐surface stormwater detention system in accordance with City of Albany regulations. Chazen also provided construction specifications for the project manual. Construction phase services included review of shop drawings, requests for information, change order requests, continuous coordination of construction observation and a certification of completed works.
