Albany Medical Center Environmental Impact StatementAugust 9, 2017
The Albany Medical Center desired to expand and renovate its main tertiary care facility, the largest in upstate New York. The project involved the demolition of approximately 65,000 square feet of existing facilities and the construction of a 325,000-square foot, four-story patient wing to include an elevator tower. The project also included renovations to existing facilities. Site improvements included a new entrance to the emergency department and a pedestrian bridge to provide connectivity to a newly constructed parking garage.
Chazen handled all permitting including site plan, special use permit, and area variance approvals for the project. Chazen obtained clearance from NYSOPRHP SHPO and certifications from HUD, and the EIS addressed issues, traffic generation/circulation, emergency services access and public utility demand issues.
