Complete Streets

Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play is a Glens Falls Hospital Health Promotion Center initiative funded by the New York State Department of Health. Chazen worked with the program to promote the understanding and implementation of Complete Streets in Warren and Washington Counties.

Chazen conducted a series of hands-on Complete Street workshops that focused on how pedestrian and transportation improvements can facilitate healthy living choices and opportunities. Chazen facilitated a “Complete Streets Takeover Day,” temporarily transforming a roadway in the Town of Kingsbury to a pedestrian friendly Complete Street. The hands on educational event included temporary striping of the road to narrow drive lanes, adding a bike lane, providing crosswalks, and introducing other traffic calming features. A broad cross section of citizens, advocates and local leaders got to experience the benefits of complete streets. Concurrently Chazen prepared concept plans for the Towns of Warrensburg, Kingsbury, Lake Luzerne, Queensbury as well as the Village of Hudson Falls. These plans have been used to improve street safety.
