Dix Avenue Corridor Study

August 3, 2017

The Adirondack/Glens Falls Transportation Council engaged Chazen to examine transportation and land use issues along the 3.6 mile Dix Avenue corridor. The section within the City limits includes curbs and sidewalks. In the Towns, the corridor transitions to suburban and rural land uses, lacking any pedestrian facilities. The study evaluated nine intersections and divided the study area into three segments based on similar characteristics. Transit, bicycle/pedestrian facilities and  pavement conditions were analyzed and an accident study was completed. The study made recommendations for improving pedestrian access at various intersections.
