August 2, 2017

Chazen provided civil engineering, landscape architecture and structural engineering services for a new elementary school located on the 1.2‐acre property of the former City of Albany School 18. The project involved the demolition of the existing school building and two adjacent residences and the construction of a new three‐story, 62,000‐square foot school building. Chazen provided design services including site grading, ADA compliance and accessibility review, foundation design, structural steel design and the design of two new drop‐off islands and a service road.

The utility design involved connection to the existing water and combined sanitary and storm sewer systems. Chazen designed a subsurface stormwater detention system in accordance with City of Albany regulations. Construction phase services included review of shop drawings, requests for information, change order requests, continuous coordination of construction observation and a certification of completed works.
