Raquette River Parks & Blueway Corridor

August 9, 2017

Chazen completed design and construction plans for Ives Park in the Village of Potsdam. The project included streambank restoration, construction of sidewalks and seating along the river, including an ADA compliant kayak and canoe launch, a new pedestrian circulation pathway, a new open-air farmer’s market pavilion, and re-vegetation of existing shoreline for erosion control and geese deterrent.

Ives Park is the centerpiece for a riverfront trail plan that includes wayfinding signage, urban art/sculptures, use of alternative paving materials, and lighting and banners to connect adjacent land uses, village streets and Route 11 to the Raquette River. In addition, the Ives Park and Riverfront Trail will connect to a regional Blueway Corridor along the Raquette River with mapping, informational campaigns, and additional access points developed by Chazen.
