Chazen prepared detailed site development/civil engineering plans for a new 35-acre campus consisting of three (3) new rustic-contemporary, one-story buildings. The site was configured to emphasize the school’s connection with the outdoor environment. Following a much anticipated grand opening, Chazen prepared supplemental civil engineering plans for a new chapel, student cabin and storage shed along with an assessment of possible alternative sewage disposal systems to support additional students and faculty.
The reconstruction at Mohonasen High School included the construction of an indoor swimming pool while accommodating infrastructure improvements for planned building additions and renovations. Review of the project under the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s SPDES permit required evaluation of existing wastewater management systems, evaluations of grease traps, multiple compartment septic tanks, dosing/effluent pump stations and sand filter disposal systems. Technical review considered chlorination/dechlorination system analyses and evaluation of effluent monitoring repairs.
Chazen provided civil engineering, landscape architectural and structural engineering services for a new elementary school building located on a 1.2‐acre property of the former City of Albany School 18. Chazen provided construction phase engineering services for modernization of the high school campus and new athletic facilities. Chazen assisted the District with design of a new vehicular network for entry and exit points, parking designations for various users and bus routing. The existing arrangement of roadways and walkways was altered to increase safety of the school children by limiting access between buildings to bus only, transforming the area into a ‘pedestrian mall’ during school hours. Chazen completed a number of projects for the Poughkeepsie City School District, including surveying, civil engineering and landscape architecture services. Chazen’s most recent project included improving athletic fields at the high school. Chazen prepared the layout and design for several field components, including conversion of the existing football field and baseball fields into multi-use synthetic turf fields. Chazen completed pre-referendum services and as well as design and permitting for $70M in capital improvement projects at various schools within the district. Planned improvements included reconstruction of the Howe Elementary School parking lot and miscellaneous drainage improvements, construction of a new bus loading/unloading area, parent drop-off loop at the Mont Pleasant Middle School, and reconstruction of the Oneida Middle School with miscellaneous site and parking lot improvements.
Project entailed a full redevelopment of existing athletic fields and associated parking areas for the Doyle Middle School and High School campus. Chazen was responsible for the coordination and design of a synthetic multi-use football/soccer/lacrosse field (Field Turf) as well as a synthetic JV baseball and JV softball field complex.
