Chazen provided structural analysis, design, detailing, specifications and construction phase services for this 17,000-square foot, two-story terminal and canopy expansion. In addition to traditional reinforced concrete foundations and structural steel framing, notable design feature included an auger cast-in-place concrete pile foundation system, 50-foot steel trusses, a cantilevered composite steel deck system and an external elevator shaft. Chazen provided structural engineering services for a new 2400-square foot private residence for prominent artist, Anne Spiess. Chazen was retained by Tallman Koch, an architectural firm specializing in a unique style of construction coined IT HOUSE. The IT HOUSE concept utilizes aluminum frame sections to create the shell of the building. The aluminum frame also serve as the primary load resisting elements of the structural system. Chazen provided structural and civil engineering services to support the conversion of the historic Mooradian Building at 599 River Street in the City of Troy to 67 units of mixed income residential apartments. The project included restoration of a concrete seawall, construction of an elevated greenspace deck, new vertical transportation systems, repairs to the building structure, upgrades to building envelope systems, solar and other green infrastructure investments, all designed to preserve historic features throughout the building.
Chazen provided structural and geotechnical engineering services, including design and construction documents as well as project management, for a $50M plant upgrade and expansion. The project includes a new pre-engineered metal building housing state-of-the-art refining processes, a containment area slab, 120-foot tall stack and tower, equipment bridges, catwalks, sampling platforms, storage tanks, a cooling tower and generator all supported by a deep foundation system and framed slab on grade.
